In article number 1800330 , Rona Chandrawati and Federico Mazur report the fusion of fluorophore‐containing liposomes mediated by complementary coiled‐coil‐forming peptides, which forms the basis of a detection assay for matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Fusion events are detected by an emission of light upon excitation of the donor fluorophores. In the presence of MMPs, the enzyme specifically cleaves the peptide on liposome surfaces, inhibiting peptide‐mediated liposome fusion.
