Last week, in an unprecedented inauguration marked by the pandemic and by the behavior of departing President Trump, who never conceded and did not meet with President Biden or make it easy for the new transition to take over, the country started a fresh new tack. Regina LaBelle, chief of staff in President Obama's Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), will be acting deputy director of the agency, in charge until a there is a nominee for director. And Tom Coderre, beloved recovery advocate in long‐term recovery himself, will be acting assistant secretary for mental health and substance use at the Department of Health and Human Services. Both have their work cut out for them as they try to overturn some of the policies put in by the Trump administration.
