The latest five‐year data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that the country has been stalled in the effort to prevent the worst outcomes from excessive alcohol use. During the period from 2011–15, excessive drinking was responsible for an average of more than 93,000 deaths per year and 2.7 million years of potential life lost, representing slight increases from the 2006–10 period.
