Most observers of drug use trends are concluding that the relaxation of restrictions on opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment during the COVID‐19 crisis has amounted to a net positive for combating overdose. But with reports of overall increases in overdoses mounting across the country, it remains clear that other factors are offsetting any gains from the increased flexibility to serve individuals who need treatment.
