It's been more than 10 years of patients fighting for 42 CFR Part 2, but overnight the regulation lost to COVID‐19. The CARES Act revises 42 CFR Part 2 (confidentiality of substance use disorder [SUD] patient records), eliminating consent except for the first time only, after which the information is up for grabs.
