Substance use treatment centers could play a role in identifying some of the 200,000 patients nationwide who may become eligible to receive no‐cost medication for the prevention of HIV. However, the drug will be intended under this initiative for only on‐label use, which does not encompass use to prevent HIV contracted through the sharing of needles by injection drug users.
