Untreated opioid use disorder (OUD) contributes to adverse maternal and infant outcomes, and states are taking various approaches to improving these outcomes. A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identified successful strategies, which included increasing access to care and improving provider awareness, and recommended a focus on increasing surveillance while reducing stigma for women and infants.
