The consensus on vaping is there is no consensus, at least from science — but politicians won't let that stop them. The Food and Drug Administration says not to use any THC‐containing vape products, or any vape products bought on the street or from unknown sources. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that people “consider refraining from use of e‐cigarette or vaping products, particularly those containing THC.” Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York used his office to call a death of a 17‐year‐old last week the state's first vaping‐related death; the governor had already banned flavored vapes (but not nicotine vapes). Gov. Charlie Baker of Massachusetts banned vape stores. Nicotine is extremely addictive, by whatever route of administration. So far, we haven't heard about a rush to buy nicotine‐replacement therapy products. Banning the stores? Don't we have ample history from alcohol — and prescription opioids — showing what happens next?
