Many prescription medications have alcohol warning labels — so many that consumers, and even physicians, may be tempted to disregard them. If the prescriber knows more about the medications than about alcohol, this situation isn't helped. But who is responsible for making sure the labels are accurate and heeded? Prescription drugs and labeling are strictly controlled by the Food and Drug Administration, but alcohol isn't. Who is in charge when it comes to interactions?
