A study based on N‐SSATS — the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services — has found that in 2016, the most recent year covered, only 36.1 percent of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment programs in the United States offer at least one of the three medications for treating opioid use disorders (OUDs). These medications are considered the gold standard for OUD treatment.
