Conduct disorder (CD) is the main predictor of premature death in youth with both CD and substance use problems, researchers have found. These youth — and their siblings — are at greater risk of premature death than demographically similar controls, according to the study, published online Aug. 9 in Addiction . The extent to which risk factors reflect differences on the family or individual level has been unknown. But there are many common factors among CD and substance use problems, with interplay going on over time.
