As dense human settlements, cities can be regarded as manifestations of emergent behaviour ‐ not unlike like that of a colony of ants or a flock of birds. Neil Leach explores how software programs that display a similar emergent logic to cities might lend themselves to the development of a new computational methodology for modelling urban form.
