Advances in biotechnology shift not only the potential skill and knowledge set required of designers, but also, as Anthony Dunne explains, the thinking about applications to ethics, as the wider implications of working methods and products have a more far‐reaching impact on society. Dunne asked his students at the Royal College of Art in London to respond to this forthcoming challenge by coming up with some pertinent ‘what if’ scenarios. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
