Rarely has a single building represented and fostered so completely the notion of public realm by serving its public first before drawing attention to itself. James Madge finds the Agora at Dronten, in the Netherlands, one such triumph. Through analysing Martin Pawley's review of the building in AD in 1969, Madge wonders if it could only have been built in the Netherlands and whether we in the UK will ever learn.
