Howard Watson describes the derelict 19th‐century alcohol factory on the Asian bank of the Bosphorus in Istanbul, which became a 30‐year restoration and renovation project for architects Nedret and Mark Butler. On the hotel's completion, their daughter Yasha realised an ingenious treatment of the interiors that takes its cue from the buildings' waterside setting. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
