Geoff Shearcroft – architect, architectural tutor, and director of London‐based AOC Architecture – opines that joy is crucial in architecture and that this joy is not about adherence to styles or prescribed spatial protocols, but emotional engagement. Joy propagated Postmodernism in the 1970s and 1980s, and so today, in another economically unstable time, it is re‐emerging, albeit differently.
