Whilst Multiform has achieved a certain acceptance as a way of combating the so‐called New London Vernacular's contextual architecture, there are still many other aspects of urbanism it does not necessarily address, particularly within the public realm. The cityscape is often left out of the debate where buildings risk becoming simply self‐referential objects. Dirk Somers , manager and founder of Antwerp's Bovenbouw architectuur, argues for a reconsideration and posits successful precedents that balance convention with surprise.
