Whilst big data accumulates at exponential rates, its analysis is currently linear. As architect, urban technologist and Academic Director at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) in Barcelona Areti Markopoulou points out, at the moment inhabitants of cities are data‐captured, yet no circular feedback occurs to make them aware of their actions at the personal and immediate level. She evokes ideas developed by cyberneticians decades ago as the basis for co‐created urban design models produced by merging artificial with crowd intelligence.
