Abstract The transition from 20th‐century fossil‐fuel consumption and pollution to green, carbon‐negative cities is aided not just by biophilic design, but also by digital techniques. Vicente Guallart , former Chief Architect of Barcelona and founder of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) and Fab Lab Barcelona, illustrates this new natural/digital urban synthesis with his own practice's competition‐ winning design for a green district, Xianmihu, in Shenzhen, China.
