Awareness of the value of historical neighbourhoods in China's cities is growing. But how can they be successfully integrated in forward‐looking plans for urban development? Hui Wang , one of its co‐founders, profiles URBANUS's approach through three recent projects that have injected new life, diversity and community cohesion into one of Beijing's hutong districts.
