A 250‐year history does not stop London's Royal Academy of Arts from constantly exploring new ground. Its expanding architecture programme, led by Head of Architecture and Drue Heinz Curator Kate Goodwin , is no exception. Here she talks to Guest‐Editor Owen Hopkins about the purposes and methods of cultural commissioning, and the curator's responsibilities to artists/architects and public. Key to her approach are establishing mutual trust, resisting the temptation to play it safe, and knowing when to take a step back.
