Summary A novel observer‐based fault accommodation technique for linear multi‐input multi‐output sampled‐data systems affected by a general class of actuator faults in the presence of quantization errors is addressed in the paper. Only the output signal has been assumed to be available for direct measurement. A simulation study on a three‐tank system supports theoretical developments. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
