Here, we report that micro‐exons are enriched in AP2 domains and K‐box domains of the AP2/ERF family and MADS‐box family, respectively. Most micro‐exons are present in terrestrial plants. In addition, two micro‐exons encode a region in the K‐box domain that plays a role in polymerization. Our results illustrate the relationships and differences among micro‐exons in two transcription factor families.
