Effective teaching requires an understanding of the student learning context. These ‘personas’ can then be matched with appropriate learning outcomes to design meaningful experiences that will support the student in applying their new skills. Here, we analyze the personas engaged in biologically inspired design (BID) and the associated learning outcomes. Recommendations for teaching BID are included.
