In the Tibetan Plateau, which formed millions of years ago as a result of the collision between the Eurasian and Indian plates, scientists have investigated the presence of crustal melt to understand how the region evolved. Previous seismic studies of the Tibetan Plateau led scientists to believe that the center of the plateau is partially melted.
