Eric J. Barron has been selected as the eighteenth president of Pennsylvania State University; he will assume that role on 12 May. Barron has been president of Florida State University in Tallahassee since 2010. His previous positions include serving as director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research from 2008 to 2010, dean of the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin from 2006 to 2008, and dean of Pennsylvania State University's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences from 2002 to 2006.
