Thomas F. Malone, a prominent figure in meteorological and climatological research and institutions in the mid and late twentieth century and AGU president from 1961 to 1964, died at his home on 6 July 2013 at age 96. He made his mark not only in research but also as an organizer of large‐scale projects, as an administrator of critical institutions, and as an early voice for scientists concerned about nuclear war, climate change, and responsible development.
