A good deal of experience has already been acquired concerning the building of constructed wetlands. This study describes the design and “process behavior” of a recently developed test system called the Planted Fixed Bed Reactor. Judging by the findings, the reactor presented here can be used as a universal test system for studying the processes taking place in constructed wetlands.
