A new process for a single step N‐elimination from a highly loaded wastewater was developed. Key element of this method (NO x ‐process) is the supplementation of the nitrification step with gaseous nitrogen oxides. For about 18 months, a pilot plant has been working, removing ammonia from fume gases. A second pilot plant was tested treating wastewater from intensive fish farming.
