In the present contribution, a numerical method is described by which the deformation of the surface of a drop resulting from the dynamics of distinct fluids inside and around the drop can be simulated. The method is based on a variational principle for the energy stored in the free surface. An evaluation of principal curvatures is not needed and, for this reason, the method has shown to be comparatively robust.
