Amino acids are used in different branches of industry and several methods exist for producing about three billion tons of these acids worldwide. The method for the production of tryptophan, outlined in this study, uses renewable resources (sugar beet molasses) and is based on chromatographic separation and biotransformation reactions. It is shown that the use of innovative bioanalytical systems leads to better economical and ecological conditions for an industrial biotransformation process.
