The paper deals with stationary vibrations of viscoelastic laminated rectangular plates controlled by distributed piezoelectric sensors and actuators. Assuming the perfect bonding, the model of interaction between piezoelements and the basic structure is developed by taking into account the inplane tension or compression of the plate caused by the two‐dimensional piezoelectric effect. Moreover, the governing equations are formulated for a non‐zero skew angle between the principal material axes of the piezoelectric patches and the laminate axes.
