The main objective of this paper is to present an algorithm for finite element simulations of the dynamic behaviour of magnetic liquids with free boundaries. Starting with the governing equations we describe the discretization and solution strategy. As an example the shape of an oscillating drop is investigated where for a simplified problem an analytical approximation is available.
