Asymmetric amplification in autocatalytic reactions is only possible if a mechanism for suppression of production of the minor enantiomer is included in the kinetic model. Without inhibition, product (catalyst) ee will inexorably decrease over time. Reaction rate and enantioselectivity must be considered together in developing a kinetic model for rationalizing asymmetric amplification in autocatalytic reactions.
