Nanoparticles exhibit physical and chemical properties that differ from those of the bulk material. This enables the development of novel nanomaterials based on nanoparticle building blocks. Flame aerosol synthesis might be one of the most promising routes to a range of single and multi-component functional nanoparticles at low cost and high production rate.
