In the northern Apennines (Tuscany, Italy) montane mires are few and small, compared to those of northern Europe and the Alps, and are therefore worthy of conservation. These threatened habitats, the flora and fauna of which have been extensively studied, were investigated with the aim of describing bryophytes and macrofungi as well. Species new for Tuscany are listed and previously unknown stands reported.
