In Northeast Germany an Erysiphales species has been observed on the ornamental shrub Colutea arborescens (Fabaceae) in various localities since 1995. Species identification was only possible when the teleomorph was found six years later. It is Erysiphe palczewskii , an introduced Asian species which, so far, was known only from Caragana spp. This article documents morphological characters, particularly the microscopic features, of the fungus with emphasis on the anamorph.
