An integrated design system for apparatus engineering (IKA) has been developed by two cooperating institutes. With the different modules of the design environment tools are given to the user in the apparatus design for the effective handling of all design data and during all stages of design. The different stages of product design are supported by the developed design modules which can be adapted dynamically to user‐specific requirements.
