Fluidized bed technology is used nowadays in numerous technical processes. Especially critical is the question of attrition in processes, in which the bed material should stay intact for as long as possible, as for instance in fluidized‐bed reactors for heterogeneous catalytic reactions. In this paper an attrition coefficient was determined experimentally, using self‐produced mustard‐lime granulates, under process‐oriented conditions. For the theoretical description, a mathematical model was presented.
