The synthesis of block and graft copolymers is an interesting possibility for producing polymers with new property profiles. In this work, polystyrene and polyethylene have been investigated as model substances. It was found that these polymers can be modified through vibratory milling in the presence of acrylic and methacrylic acid. The solubility behavior as well as water absorption and rheological properties of the samples are strongly changed by the modification.
