Abstract With the advent of modern tools of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), it is now possible to obtain detailed information on the bubble shape, morphology and rise characteristics from knowledge of system properties and geometry. In this paper we try to give a flavor of the power of CFD tools and summarize recent advances.
