In this work, the possible industrial application of microreactors is discussed, and two research examples are presented. From these experiments, it is shown that information obtained from a microreactor can aid in the optimization of a conventional reactor for the same process, and that higher selectivities in production can thus be achieved. While the use of microreactors in production is currently rather unlikely, their use as measurement instruments for optimization indicates the potential for great improvements to come.
