The determination of drop sizes in liquid/liquid dispersions appears to be an unsatisfactorily solved measurement problem. Nevertheless, the drop size distribution is often one of the most important process parameters, i.e., for liquid/liquid extraction or pearl polymerization. Using this technique, the drop size distribution at various places in a reactor/column can be determined.
