A new modified electrode constructed by self‐assembly of (3‐mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane on a gold electrode followed by immobilization with hydrazine exhibits excellent electrocatalytic activity for the reduction of hydrogen peroxide at a reduced overpotential of −0.15 V. Immobilization of hydrazine in the sol‐gel layer formed on the electrode was confirmed by ESCA and FT‐IR experiments. The determination of hydrogen peroxide with the hydrazine modified silane electrode shows the advantages of ease of fabrication, high sensitivity, good selectivity, rapid response, and remarkable stability.
