The use of differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) with a glassy carbon/mercury film electrode for the simultaneous detection of barium and lead is observed. The use of various electrolytes in partially aqueous or fully aqueous solution gives a reproducible capacitance peak for Ba and a stripping peak for Pb. These results are accomplished under acidic conditions (pH 2 to 4). A response is obtained for each metal down to 100 ng.
