A new PVC membrane sensor for nickel ions based on dibenzodiaza‐15‐crown‐4 as membrane carrier was prepared. The electrode exhibits a Nernstian response for Ni 2+ ions over a concentration range 7.1×10 –7 –1.2×10 –2  M and a limit of detection of 5.6×10 –7  M (0.03 ppm). It has a response time of about 20 s and can be used for at least two months without any divergence in potential. The proposed sensor revealed good selectivities for Ni 2+ over a wide variety of other metal ions and can be used in the pH range of 3.0–6.0. It was used for direct determination of Ni 2+ in solution and, as an indicator electrode, in potentiometric titration of nickel ions.
