We have developed an enzyme activity sensor that functions by detection of the mediated reduction of O 2 in the electrolyte, thus yielding a reagentless system for addressing enzyme activity. Application of the sensor to the detection of modulators of the mediator electrochemistry and of the enzyme has been demonstrated. The potential of the system for monitoring of toxic (to the sensor and to humans) pollution is currently under investigation.
