The controlled chemical synthesis of polymer/metal nanocomposites presented enables the formation of metal clusters of precise geometries and dispersion gradients. The polymer selectively interacts with preferred crystallographic planes, thus, resulting in “capped” metal clusters and a restraint on both the cluster aggregation and the cluster shape (see Figure).
