Calcium phosphate nanoshells (see Figure) have been produced using a liposome template. It is demonstrated that shells of thickness 2–10 nm surrounding a liposome/water core of diameter 45–100 nm can be obtained. These shells have potential as sustained delivery vehicles with long release times of a large reservoir of drug.
