Fast FTIR imaging is applied to the study of binary solvents of glassy polymers. The technique enables the measurement of spatial–temporal infrared data for the dissolution process. It is possible to calculate a dissolution rate as a function of parameters, such as quality of solvent, temperature, as well as changes in the polymer structure, such as molecular weight.
